The pilot test for the APA project beginsPisa, 19th September 2011 -The European Mobility Week has already started, an initiative against the environmental pollution that is affecting all cities. Almost two thousand cities across Europe have joined this initiative, including Naples, Rome, Milan and Bologna. The Italian capital has always been deployed in the fight against smog, traffic and emissions of greenhouse gases. Many initiatives, in fact, have been promoted, certainly worthy of note is the testing of the prototype APA of the company Is-Tech, to which attended also WiTech. APA stands for "Air Pollution Abatement", for the removal of fine dust, it is built with a technology aimed at cleaning the air. The prototypes installed for the event are three, all active in Via Petroselli, and they are all connected to a special wireless telecommunication’s network, designed by WiTech. Through this network, the information gathered by the sensors are transmitted to a monitor from which the level of air pollution is monitored in real time. After that, each prototype, through a sophisticated mechanism, purifies the air by breaking down hydrocarbons in the form of particulates, heavy metals, particulate matter, and pollen. The testing of these prototypes is very important in the fight against pollution and it is the first of its kind. |
